Getting started¶
Five minutes from download to a project opening at https://shop.loc with no
certificate warning. Four short steps, in order:
-
Docker, an operating system it runs on, and a little disk. Nothing else — no PHP, no Node, no package manager on your machine.
-
One installer per platform, the extra click each OS asks for on an unsigned build, and how to check it worked.
-
The one question the app asks, the certificate, and your first project from a template, an empty folder or a git repository.
-
The six things that go wrong on a first run, and the button that fixes each one.
Already using XAMPP, Laragon, MAMP, Valet, Sail, Herd or DDEV? StackVo can bring your projects over — see Coming from another tool.
What you will have at the end¶
| A workspace | One folder, ~/.stackvo by default, holding your settings and projects. |
| A project | Its own container, its own runtime version, its own database. |
| An address | https://<name>.loc, with a certificate your browser trusts. |
| A window | Start, stop, rebuild, logs, mail, snapshots — no terminal needed. |
